The Wednesday, July 27th, concert of the Peoria Municipal Band will be broadcast live on Comcast 22 and itv3 in the Peoria area. We hope to see a big audience in the Warehouse District for this performance as we continue to work to reach out to others around our community.
Newcomer Becca Largent is our vocal soloist. Clinton Linkmeyer will step out from the trumpet section and be featured with a great Herbert L. Clarke solo. Come enjoy the hospitality of Kellehers and the aura of Water Street.
It was an honor to share the concert stage with the 85th Army Band on Sunday night, July 17th. Special thanks to Peoria Post #2 for providing dinner for them before the concert.
The Peoria Municipal Band is grateful to all the restaurants who support the band through the donation of gift certificates for audience members. (See the list) At each concert those in attendance can sign up for a drawing that takes place at intermission. THE PEORIA MUNICIPAL BAND OPENS JUNE 5TH
The Peoria Municipal Band, under the direction of Dr. David Vroman, will begin their 79th season of summer concerts on Sunday, June 5th at 7:00 p.m. in the Glen Oak Park Amphitheater in Peoria, Illinois and follow up in the Peoria Warehouse District on Wednesday, June 8th. The 2016 Peoria Municipal Band Summer Season consists of 24 concert performances by a band of 50 musicians. All concerts are free of charge and parking is adjacent to the performing venues.
The Sunday, June 5th concert is opening night! The Peoria Fire Department Color Guard will present the colors and Peoria Mayor Jim Ardis will narrate the first half of the program. Illinois State University Professor Michelle Vought is the featured vocalist and the Peoria Municipal Band Dixieland Band will be at the front of the stage for their a Dixieland Jam.
Sunday evening concerts in Glen Oak Park this summer will be June 5, 12, 19, 26, July 3, 10, 17, 24, 31, August 7 and 14.
Wednesday evening performances are presented at the corner of Water and State Street each Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m. These performances will be June 8, 15, 22, 29, July 6, 13, 20, 27, August 3 and 10.
Two special Friday evening performances will be given this season. The first is at St. Philomena’s Church and School on Friday July 29th at 7:00 p.m. Then on Friday August 5th the band will perform at The Shoppes at Grand Prairie.
Everyone associated with the Peoria Municipal Band is grateful for the support of the City of Peoria, the Peoria Park District and the thousands who attended concerts in 2015. We are now looking forward to the 2016 season which includes the following dates.
